This category consists of articles concerning human colonies (away from Earth) which are not associated with the Confederacy.  These colonies come from, as far as is known, only five human societies:

  • The EU Colonies - Some of these were started by the European Union and were later 'adopted' into the Confederacy.  Others remained independent of the Confederacy during the Swarm War.
  • The Chinese Colonies - The People's Republic of China is known to have founded two extra-solar colonies, Pyong and Rek (or Reck).  There may have been others.  These are all separate from the Confederacy and do not wish any 'western contamination'.  They admit the existence of the Confederacy but neither accept nor provide assistance to the Confederacy.
  • The Cosca Colonies - A consortium of 'organized crime' families which had originated in Italy and Sicily but were mostly based in the United States by the time of the Swarm War held the remains of several crashed Hwee spacecraft.  At least one of them had been capable of interstellar voyages.  When the approach of the Sa'arm was announced, the Cosca funded the research necessary to move their culture off-planet.  The Cosca and the Confederacy mostly ignore each other, being neither enemies nor allies.
  • The Arab Colonies - An Arab industrial group dug through the "Data Dump" and found an interstellar drive that could be built using Earth-only resources.  They used the resulting ship to set up and populate their colony Escardis.  It is rumored that they may have also founded a second colony.
  • The Celestial Japanese Empire - Japan founded a colony using Confederacy help with some of their own technology.  From there, they have expanded into several nearby systems.  Again, the Celestial Realm is neither enemy nor friend to the Confederacy, but they do talk and occasionally assist each other.
