Pyong

Chinese Colony Pyong
Pyong is a failed Chinese colony of which little is known. As with all Chinese colonies, it was established entirely outside of normal Confederacy control. Nowadays, it is used as an example of what happens if a planetary governor is inadequate to the job.
The Chinese colonies were independent of the NATO/Confederacy alliance, and all management were chosen for their believed political reliability rather than integrity or competence. In this instance the governor had not achieved the required CAP score to be a sponsor, but was allowed to run the colony anyway by the Chinese authorities.
"Pyong" is not the proper name of the colony, as "P'yong" is considered more consistent with the Chinese language, but westerners will often drop the apostrophe as they spell it. Writers are cautioned to use the more correct spelling when using characters that are more familiar with the Chinese language, while westerners will usually use the more common form. This is a good way to distinguish between the cultural norms of each set, and help distinguish between characters.
