Chinese Colony Reck

Reck (alternatively spelled as Rek) is a failed colony established in Year 1 by China after they were given the gift of an Aurora class colony transport by the Darjee.

Established Lore

From "Woolly Wilds:

The colony was primarily colonized by North Koreans and Chinese, with a helping of Japanese and Taiwanese. The planetary government treated the North Koreans's in particular like second class citizens and slave laborers, even the sponsors. The AI's actually tried to prevent the Confederacy from interfering after writing the whole mess off as a failure. Reck has produced combat battalions for Confederacy use, and units often did not want to return to Reck after their deployments. Refugee status requests from Reck inhabitants are common and far higher than rates observed anywhere else.

From "Celestial River":

Many years later the colony remains divided among ethnic and political lines and has three settlements. They lack any useful infrastructure and remain embroiled in a civil war. One strategic nuclear missile facility constitutes the entire defense of the planet from the Sa'arm. No AI systems are evident on the planet's surface.

Author Commentary

From Zen Master:

The UN colonies and the Chinese colonies are NOT "Confederacy colonies" in the sense that everyone on them passed the non-politician 'real' CAP test and can be trusted with a weapon.
The AIs support sending colonists to them, whoever the UN and Chinese want to send, simply as a way to get more warm bodies off Earth.  They don't support the war, though.  They don't provide the fleet with ships or even trustworthy crewmen and women.  They do, however, provide fanatic formations of shock troops who do whatever their officers order them to do.
