The Confederacy Army is a collection of the individual planetary militias of the colony worlds and Earth itself when deployed away from it's home planet.
A force which is seen as having little in the way of a role it could only be deployed in huge operations requiring massive Naval, Auxiliary and probably merchant transport support - operations on the scale of, say, the Normandy invasion times 10.
To date no stories have been written that require it to be used.
