Types of Nuclear Systems In Confederacy Use

The Confederacy has fusion reactors in wide use not only for electric power generation, but also for shipboard power systems. One mention is in "Pretty CAPable" but there are many others. These seem to use deuterium in a fusion reaction, perhaps initiated by a high-powered laser in some sort of sci-fi "Cold fusion" development. Power generators are much smaller and less resource-intensive than current-day Tokamak reactors, which are not yet net-energy productive.

There is also a mention of antimatter systems in Some Assembly Required by Nuke Danger, 3rd Aye but it refers to weapons.

Safety and Reliability

Confederacy power generation systems are under the control of the AIs which ensure safe and reliable operation. No safety issues have been spoken of in Canon stories.
