Midway Class Marine Close Support Carriers
The Midways embark the interface elements of a Marine Air Wing but are considered by the Navy to be under powered and under defended. The Marines regard them and the three squadrons they carry as essential to their mission.

From And Mother Reaches The Colonies by Duke of Ramus: "CSS Palmyra carries the identification code CVF005, she is the fifth ship in the Midway class of vessels. She is primarily designed to carry the interface craft used by Confederacy Space Marines rather than the space superiority fighters used by the Navy. She is equipped with a mixture of A20 close support fighters, F50 air superiority fighters along with a small numbers of other interface craft. The primary mission of the ship is to support ground elements of the Marine Corps on operations. It is currently assigned to the 2nd Marine Air Wing, which in turn is part of the 3rd Marine Expeditionary Force based in the Brakat system."
