Standard Issue Military Knives
- K-1 Combat Knife: Identical in shape to the USMC standard issue fighting knife, but stronger and holds an edge better due to advanced Confederacy metallurgy. Matte black finish.
- K-2 Bayonet: Standard knife-type bayonet with blood groove. Mounts on RLI-1 standard rifle and the RS-1 stunner rifle. Unauthorized but tolerated variant: chrome version mounted to RS-1 to increase psychological impact during extractions.
Force Knives
Both the Confederacy and the Sa'arm use Force Knives. See Force Knife and Vibroblade Katana for more detail.
Story Usage
From Up, Up and Away by McJeep
"Each sword is tailored to its own user. That means that it can't be taken away and used against you. The blade is powered by rechargeable energy cells located in the hilt. When you are off duty or in your Swift, it will be recharged by either your pod or your aircraft. In the field, the scabbard functions as a solar collector to recharge the blade. Without power, the blade is dull and brittle. It is made of carbon fiber and other exotic materials. Under power, the blade is capable of cutting almost any material. Some materials are harder to cut than others. For example, I could not walk over to the hanger door and cut through it in one swing. However, if I worked at it, I could make a hole in the door given time."
From Pretty CAPable by Kenn Ghannon
"We replaced the knives with force blades of similar length - be careful with them, the blades are essentially weightless and invisible and will throw you off if you're not careful - and they can cut through damn near anything, given enough force."
The force blade is a wonderful tool. With sufficient force, it can cut through steel.
