EVA Pod

An EVA Pod is a space capable work sphere. It is less than three meters in diameter and has four manipulator arms. It is technically a shirtsleeve environment, but usually the operator wears a Skinsuit for safety's sake. The pod is capable of working on the surface of a moon and is equipped with 100% gravity cancellation and propulsion. Endurance is well past twelve hours.

The first literary mention was in Thinker's "The Chinese Obligation" which takes place on Rhea, the moon of Saturn. "The EVA pods looked somewhat like something out of the old movie, '2001: A Space Odyssey' -- except the manipulators were bigger and there were more of them."
