Brothel

   A brothel is a Civil Service establishment where unallocated concubines are held.  In addition to being a storage facility it also provides a place for sexual relief as its name implies, for visiting or jaded Sponsors.
   Brothels have been a fixture in Confederacy installations, from the smallest town to the largest fleet base, since the beginning of the war.  Warships and troopships have no room for non-combatants, and it is morally unacceptable to bring women and children into a combat zone just so the warriors can have company.  Providing every base, port, shipyard, and colony with a brothel ensures that visiting warriors can relieve their tensions without disrupting families.  In addition, it is a principle of Terran genetics that small populations tend to lose genetic variety.  Because of this, all colonies try to get samples from visitors whenever possible.
   Generally, most concubines do not volunteer for service in the brothels.  Sending an unwanted Concubine to the local brothel can happen for several reasons: Loss of sponsor (usually due to combat death), unable to get along with sponsor or family, refusal to obey their sponsor, sponsor is simply tired of them, concubine needs training/experience/attitude adjustment.  A stay at a brothel may be permanent (unless accepted by another sponsor) or temporary.
