A-22 Swift
The A-22 Swift is, as suggested by the name, an extremely fast and highly maneuverable ground attack aircraft, capable of 20-G turns. At first the craft was too much for its Marine pilots and gunners, but a special selection program has resulted in several squadrons of elite crews. Due to its requirement for specialized crews and the fact it takes three crew (pilot and two gunners) to operate the craft, numbers are still limited, however it has proven extremely successful operating against Sa'arm invasions.
The A22 can climb to orbit and is carried aboard the Midway Class Carriers. However, there is no gravitic compensation and thus the maximum acceleration capable is only about 30 gs while in space, 20 gs 'cruising'. While in the Ionosphere, the fighters may recharge various energy systems.
This is a ground attack aircraft. It is not suited to any space combat other than out of sheer desperation.
