(This example article is protected against change.  Editors can open it for editing, but they cannot save their changes.  It is intended for use as a template only.

Editors creating a new article should:

  • Create their new article, leaving it open for editing.
  • Open this blank outline page for editing.
  • Copy the contents of this page into your new article so that your new page has the same structure as other articles in this wiki.
  • Fill in your new article with your content, removing template content as needed.  When you are done, your new article can be saved with your changes. ZM User (talk) 08:28, 5 June 2025 (PDT)

Sample Story Article for Editors to Use as a Template

(Yeah, that above is your article's title line.  Note that you really don't need to type in a title line, as the wiki software provides one anyway in the form of the article's file name.  Thus, if you get the file name right, you don't need a title line unless you want a longer title than the file name.  In this case, the file name is 'Sample Story Article'.  If you're about to create a new article about other things -not a story- maybe you should use Sample Article instead as the article structures are different.)

(I wanted to put 'Author Name Goes Here' but since this is supposed to also serve as a link to the author's wiki article, it should be a valid link.  Please change this to the correct author name/article name for this story.)

Synopsis: Here is where you put a quick synopsis of the story.  In many cases, simply copying what the publication site has for the story's 'teaser' will do.
Location: If the story takes place in a particular place that matters, mention that here as 'inside one of London's CAP testing centers' or 'Aboard unnamed colony transport ship' or 'Aboard CNS Xerxes' or similar.
Timeline: If the story can be located on the Swarm Cycle's Timeline, note that here.
Canon Status: This may be a simple "This story defined original canon" for TH's Average Joes, or maybe "Contains no recognized canon issues".  You might be adding a long essay which should start with "Numerous 'canon' issues:".  Or, you might be adding a long essay which starts with "Expands 'canon' in the following ways:"  Either way, start with a short TL;DR summary.

(Here we have all the assorted data about the story.  Common entries include:)
Status: Available on SOL at (provide link to story on publication site).
Links: This is usually part of the 'Status' line above, but if the status is something unusual it may be helpful to use a separate line for links.
Genre: Science Fiction (usually, for the "Swarm Cycle")
Sex Contents: Some Sex (None, Some, Much, Stroke...)
Tags: Ma/Fa, etc, etc, etc
Size: ?? KB | ?? words

(Someday this will be a navigation template.  It will provide a bar across the bottom of each article with useful navigation links.  Until then, this is just a placeholder to get rid of all the red "broken link" indicators. -ZM User (talk) 10:00, 3 May 2024 (PDT))
