   Back around 2016 or so, Robert Auld emailed one of the Swarm Cycle writers with a story, asking for proofreading.  Our boy promptly turned the story over to the authors' email list for discussion.  We never heard from Mr. Auld again.  Maybe his Yahoo account choked, maybe he decided he didn't want to be associated with us, maybe he got run over by a bus the next day.  We just don't know.  Certainly, he never replied to any of our emails.  Maybe, someday, someone will Contact Us and let us know what happened.
   We proofread his story, leaving one particularly irksome issue for his decision, waited a reasonable period, and finally just posted it under his name.  Five years is a reasonable period, isn't it?

A Simple Extraction

   Setting: Earth, during the Swarm War.  Mentions seasons and month names, making it clear that the story is set in the southern hemisphere.
   Synopsis: Did you know that Australia's treaty with the Confederacy had some special provisions?  Neither did the extraction team.
   Status: Removed from public servers
   Canon implications: "A Simple Extraction" is listed as "Non-Canon" simply because it is set in Australia, which according to the official story-line was not allowing extractions.  If we had been able to get the author to simply change the location to New Zealand, or South Africa, or even Argentina or Chile this story would have added to Canon instead of being outside of it.
